I love working with ground turkey for a lot of different recipes and making meatballs is no different. You can get a couple of different kinds of ground turkey depending on where you go or depending on what your local grocery store offers. I tend to go with the ground turkey that is a mix of both white and dark meat because I think it makes a better meatball when I can find it. I also really like the flavor of the mix of light and dark meat for the turkey meatballs. You can always go with all-white meat turkey too if you are looking to reduce the amount of fat in the recipe. I have used both types of ground turkey. Since turkey is a milder meat than beef I do use Italian-style breadcrumbs for this basic recipe. That gives the meatballs a little extra flavor. If you have a recipe in mind where those breadcrumbs might detract from the overall flavor profile you are going for just simply substitute the Italian-Style breadcrumbs for plain or plain panko breadcrumbs.
